Kinetic Model Of Matter
The kinetic theory explains the properties of the different states of matter. The particles in solids, liquids and gases have different amounts of energy; therefore , they are arranged and move in different ways. The kinetic theory states that all matter is made up of a large number of tiny atoms or molecules which are in continous movement.
Gas
Liquid
Solid
According to the kinetic model of solid matter the molecules are arranged close together and in a rectangular pattern. Also molecules can only vibrate on their fixed possition.Solid has a determined shape and volume.
According to the kinetic model of liquid matter the molecules are not arranged in a rectangular way and are slightly farther appart than in solids. Also molecules move arround each other.Liquid has a determined volume but not shape
According to the kinetic model of gas matter the molecules are situated far appart. They move quickly and in any direction, colliding with one another.Gas has n shape , no surface nor fixed volume.
